Blue Bones Flashlight provides legendary Elzetta performance

Originally produced as a limited Special Edition, this Blue version of the Bones flashlight was released back in 2017, celebrating 10 years of Elzetta Design. It was a very popular release and sold out quickly! We have since received a steady stream of comments about this version and requests to bring it back.

The Blue coating on this Bones is Type II (or “regular“) anodizing, NOT Mil-Spec Type III (or “hard”) anodizing, yet it is still quite durable. The difference is in the thickness of the coating and how far the coating penetrates the aluminum surface. Some wear is expected with normal use and is not covered under warranty.

Type II regular anodizing is an aluminum only oxidation process with a thickness of coatings ranging from .0001-.0005 penetration and .0003-.0005 buildup. This is about 10 times thinner than Type III hard coating! Type II can be decoratively dyed nearly any color.

Type III hardcoat anodizing forms a thick oxide coating (.001 penetration into the substrate and .001 build up.) Type III hardcoat is much thicker and more wear-resistant, so if you are looking for the hardest coat possible, see our original Elzetta Bones Flashlight.

Elzetta Bones Flashlight emits 850 brilliant lumens with a mere push of the button on the simple Click Tailcap.  The field-replaceable optical lens provides a soft edge beam quality while fully potted electronics ensure unsurpassed durability.  Operates on two (2) CR123A batteries (included) or one 18650 rechargeable battery (not included).

See detailed description and technical specifications below.

Description

Elzetta Bones is a “bare bones”, no frills flashlight with legendary Elzetta performance and durability.

The Bones flashlight generates 850 lumens in steady regulation with an optimum balance of throw and spill through its standard 7/8-inch thick TIR optical lens (total internal reflection).

Operation is bone-simple.  There are no secondary modes and on/off is achieved via the push-button which operates like a common ballpoint pen.

The beam quality generated by the optic produces a hot spot with plenty of spill for situational awareness and transitions smoothly with no hard edge beam characteristics.

Runtime is rated at 1.5 hours from two fresh CR123A batteries (included).  An 18650 rechargeable battery* may also be used (not included).

Constructed of 6061-T6 aluminum with Type II blue** conventional anodizing, which is 10 times thinner than Mil-Spec Type III hard anodizing, so some wear is expected, yet it is still quite durable for normal use.

Fully potted electronics, another essential Elzetta advantage, keep circuit boards and solder joints sealed and secure.

How Does the Type II Blue Anodizing Wear with Use?

The images below show how the Type II anodizing wears with regular use. This Blue Bones was purchased in 2017 and has been used pretty hard on a daily basis for at least 7 years.
